CVFR Nav Video — Privacy Policy
Effective: 24 October 2026
CVFR Nav Video is a Windows program that makes a debrief video of a light-aircraft flight: the pilot's GoPro footage with the CVFR Nav app's map, the cockpit audio and, if the pilot wants, the app's approach debrief. It is made by the developer of the CVFR Nav app. This policy covers the Windows program.
What the developer receives
Nothing. The program has no account with the developer, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. It sends the developer no data about you, your flights or your videos.
What stays on your computer
- Your flights, GoPro files and videos are read from and written to your own computer and your own iCloud Drive (through Apple's iCloud for Windows). The program makes the video on your computer. Nothing is uploaded unless you turn on the YouTube upload (below).
- Your choices — the logo, the opening text, where the map sits, and each video's settings — are kept in your Windows user profile.
YouTube upload (optional)
The program can upload a finished video to your own YouTube channel. It does so only after you sign in with your Google account and allow it, and only when you have turned the upload on.
CVFR Nav Video uses YouTube API Services. By uploading through it you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
- What the program asks Google for: permission to upload videos to your YouTube channel
(
youtube.upload); permission to manage your YouTube account (youtube), which the program uses only to list your own playlists, make a playlist when you ask it to, and add the video it has just uploaded to the playlist you chose (YouTube has no narrower permission for playlists); and your Google account's email address, to show you which account is signed in. The program never changes or deletes your existing videos or playlists, never reads your other YouTube data (such as comments, subscriptions or history), and cannot see anything else in your Google account. - What it sends to YouTube: the video you chose to make, its title, its description (the video's chapters and a line naming the program) and the privacy setting you chose — Private, Unlisted or Public (with a playlist chosen, the playlist's own); a new playlist's name and privacy when you make one; and which playlist the video goes into. Nothing else.
- What it reads from YouTube: the names, links and privacy of your own playlists, to offer them to you. They are shown in the program and not kept.
- What it keeps: the permission Google gives back (a "refresh token") and your email address, on your computer only, encrypted with Windows' own data protection so that only your Windows user can read them. They are never sent to the developer or anyone else.
- How to withdraw it: press Sign out in the program (More options and details → YouTube): the program deletes what it kept and gives the permission back to Google. You can also remove CVFR Nav's access at any time on your Google account's third-party access page. Uninstalling the program deletes what it kept.
Services the program contacts
- Your iCloud Drive, through Apple's iCloud for Windows, to read your flights.
- The developer's support site on GitHub Pages
(
arielf-idra.github.io/cvfr-nav/version.json), at most once a day, to say when a newer version is out. GitHub keeps its usual request logs; nothing about you is sent. - Google and YouTube, only when you sign in or upload, as described above.
Children
The program is meant for pilots and flight instructors. It is not directed at children.
